Dehesa El Águila is a private farm located in the Municipality of Puebla de la Reina, it belongs to the Tierra de Barros Region, almost in the geographical center of the Province of Badajoz. Its origin is in the foundations of livestock and agriculture, which have always been combined in the shade of holm oaks and cork oaks, fully envisioning what we define today as BIODIVERSITY.
We offer you an incredible place whose origins date back to the reign of Carlos IV who authorized its owners to delimit the farm called Coto del Águila in 1797 for the exploitation and breeding of equine cattle, essential for the armies of that time with incessant conflicts in the border lines. His farmhouse was built from those dates, where all the ancestors of the current owners have lived.

It is strategically located to enjoy mesmerizing views of the northern part of the Sierra Grande de Hornachos. Much of the farm belongs to the Special Zone of Protected Birds Z.E.P.A. where the following birds can be seen soaring through the skies: Golden Eagle, Imperial Eagle, Bonelli’s Eagle, Eagle Owl, Griffon and Black Vultures, Black Stork, Iberian Dartford, Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Goshawk, Common Kestrel, Booted Eagle, Short-toed Eagle, Bee-eater , Little Owl, Eurasian Kite, Montagu’s Harrier, … Thanks to the LIFE IBERLINCE project, with luck you can see Iberian Lynxes hanging around some prey and where they successfully breed in the vicinity. During the dark night, the stars can be seen with a clarity typical of the almost absolute absence of light pollution.
